Travel Information

Getting to Greece

The best airport for our wedding is Athens International Airport (ATH) - the main hub for both international and domestic flights. The airport is about a 30-minute drive from the city centre and just 8 minutes from our wedding venue.

To make your journey to Greece as smooth as possible, please keep the following in mind:

The 6-Month Rule: Regardless of where you are from, most airlines require your passport to be valid for at least 6 months beyond your date of departure. Please check your expiration dates soon!

Visa Requirements: Entry requirements depend on your passport. Please check whether you need a visa for Greece using the official EU Schengen visa checker. If a visa is required, you will need to apply for a Schengen visa at the consulate of Greece in your country of residence. We recommend starting this process at least 2–3 months in advance.

From the Airport to the City Centre

Athens International Airport is well-connected, making it easy to reach the city centre. Here are some options for travel from and to the airport:

Taxi: Official yellow taxis are available outside arrivals. There is a flat rate to the city centre: €40 (5am to midnight) and €55 (midnight to 5am) - the rate is determined by the time of arrival at your destination and not by the time of departure from the airport. Please check with the driver beforehand if you plan to pay by card.

Uber: Works in Athens, but it will connect you to licensed taxis rather than private drivers.

Metro: The M3 (blue) line runs from the airport to Syntagma Square in about 40 minutes. Trains run every 30 minutes (6:30am - 11:30pm). Tickets can be bought at the airport's metro station and cost €9 one-way, or €16 return (valid for 30 days).

Hotel Shuttles: Some hotels offer airport shuttle services at an extra charge.

Car Rentals: If you're planning to explore more of mainland Greece or visit nearby beaches, renting a car is the most practical option. Most major car rental companies operate directly from the airport. However, please check with your hotel if nearby parking is available as parking in central Athens is very limited.
