Accommodation

Our wedding will take place just outside Athens for a more countryside feel, but we highly recommend staying in the city centre to experience the heart of Athens. Below you'll find a curated selection of hotels that are central and highly rated.

For convenience, we suggest staying as close to Syntagma Square as possible, as this is the city's main transport hub and it is close to where our shuttle bus to the wedding venue will likely depart from (full details about the shuttle will be shared closer to the date).

Our Tip: Greek weddings are known for lasting into the early hours, so you may want to consider requesting a late checkout for Monday or plan your return flight for Monday evening or Tuesday for a smoother recovery ;)

Airbnb

Athens has a wide variety of Airbnbs across all budgets. Many are unique, comfortable and very central. They are a great option for longer stays or small groups. We highly recommend browsing Airbnb options too!

Recommended Central Areas

All the neighborhoods below are safe, walkable, and well located.

Syntagma
The most convenient area overall. Well connected with everything within walking distance - the Acropolis, museums, restaurants, shops, and rooftop bars.

Kolonaki
Upscale, elegant, and slightly quieter. Full of cafes, boutiques, museums, and residential streets. Central yet calmer than the tourist hotspots.

Thiseio & Acropolis
Picturesque, scenic areas at the foot of the Acropolis. Perfect for sunset strolls, cobbled streets, and a charming, local feel.

Psiri & Monastiraki
Great for nightlife, food, bars, and energy.
Note: Not ideal for light sleepers as older buildings often have limited sound insulation, and nightlife goes on until late.

Beyond the City Centre

Residential but Convenient
If you prefer a quieter, more residential base while still staying well connected (and along our wedding route), consider accommodation near metro stations along the M3 (blue) metro line, such as Panormou or Katehaki. These areas are peaceful, safe, and only 10 minutes to the centre by metro.

The Athenian Riviera
Some may be considering staying along the Athenian Riviera to enjoy the sea. Please note that this beautiful coastal area is not very well connected to the city centre by public transport. The furthest point you can comfortably reach by metro is Elliniko (which is still largely under construction), while the tram down to the coast is very slow. For the Athenian Riviera you are better off with a taxi or car.

Areas we don't recommend

For a smooth and comfortable stay, we suggest staying around Syntagma and Kolonaki. Some areas around Omonia Square - including Exarchia, Metaxourgeio, Victoria/Agios Panteleimonas, Kerameikos, and Gazi - can feel less tourist-friendly, particularly at night, so you might prefer to avoid them.

Final Note

These are simply suggestions - please feel free to choose whatever suits your style, budget, and travel plans. Athens has something for everyone, and all the areas listed above will give you easy access to the best the city has to offer.
